Concrete Driveways in Blue Island

The old, broken drive gone, a strong new one in its place and your yard cleaned up before we leave.

A Driveway You Do Not Have to Think About

Most worn-out driveways tell the same story. The concrete was a little too thin, the gravel underneath was skimpy or missing, and after enough winters of freezing, thawing and salt, it cracked, sank and started breaking apart at the edges. Replacing it is a chance to do it right. We break out the old drive and haul every piece away. Then we dig out soft soil and lay in a thick layer of gravel, packing it down so the new slab has solid support. Rebar rides on plastic chairs, keeping it centered in the pour. The slab is poured thicker than a patio or walk, and thicker still if you park a truck, a trailer or a camper. We cut control joints at the right spacing so any cracking follows a straight line, and we give it a broom finish for traction in snow. Every driveway we pour carries an 8-month warranty on cracks larger than 1/8 inch: if one appears, we patch and fill it with a concrete repair sealant. Plenty of Blue Island drives run back along the house to a garage on the alley, and we work carefully along those narrow runs so the siding, fences and flower beds stay untouched.

What Your Driveway Job Includes

Each shows up as its own line on paper.

  • Tear-out

The old driveway broken up with the right equipment.

  • Haul-away

Every chunk loaded up and taken off your property.

  • Digging to firm ground

Soft and muddy soil removed so the base sits on something solid.

  • Packed gravel base

A thick layer of gravel tamped down to carry the weight of cars.

  • Steel reinforcement

Set on supports so it lands in the middle of the slab.

  • Proper thickness

Poured for the vehicles you actually park there.

  • Joints and broom finish

Straight control joints and a textured surface for winter grip.

  • Crack coverage

Cracks larger than 1/8 inch within 8 months patched with a concrete repair sealant.

How Your Driveway Gets Replaced

  1. Tell us about the drive

Its rough length and width, the vehicles it holds and where it is failing. We will talk options and a ballpark on the call.

  2. Visit and written price

We measure, check drainage toward the street and garage and write up a price with every step spelled out.

  3. Out with the old, in with the new

Tear-out, base, steel, pour and finish. While it cures, we pull the forms and clean up, and we let you know when it is ready to drive on.

Why Our Driveways Hold Up

  • Strength from the bottom up

A packed gravel base and steel placed where it helps.

Narrow drives along the house worked without damaging what is around them.
